Winter is Coming…

The weather outside is frightful, the days are growing shorter, and streets are being lined with lights, garland and holiday cheer – winter is almost here! As the year comes to an end, we are presented with opportunities and avenues to reflect on the year that’s almost behind us. And although this year has had its fair share of challenges, it has also been filled with many incredible things, and much to be thankful and grateful for. And, that’s exactly what this time of year is all about – rest, reflection, gratitude, and time spent with those who fill your heart with love and joy. It is a time of year to be good to yourself and others, treat yourself with kindness, and prepare for a fresh start at the beginning of the new year.

And above all else, in the office here, we are incredibly thankful and grateful for the amazing family of people we get to take care of.  In honor of you and how amazing you are, we are hosting our annual Patient Appreciation – Happy Holidays – we send you home with a whole apple, cherry or pumpkin pie – day on Friday December 15th  – because nothing says :we appreciate you” quite like pastry!

We are also looking forward to kicking off the New Year by attending our annual chiropractic conference, Cal-Jam, in southern California at the end of January. It will be jam packed with some of the world’s brightest and best educators about chiropractic, health and wellness, and critical issues that are effecting the health of our entire planet. The experience of being there is unlike any other, and we leave feeling more inspired and on purpose about helping our community thrive. What a great way to get fired up for a bountiful and prosperous new year!

And, we have some fantastic news! At long last, we have a new massage therapist! Tracee Petersen, joined the practice in November. She is here on Mondays from 10:00am to 5:45pm and is a preferred provider with all major insurance carriers, including Regence! Specializing in sports massage and injury rehab, she incorporates deep tissue, trigger point therapy and myofascial release techniques during her sessions. She is also passionate about helping women feel greater comfort during their pregnancy. If you have any questions, or would like to schedule with her, please call the clinic directly at (206) 325-9297 and we will be happy to help answer any other questions you may have.

Also, Christine White, our cranial sacral massage therapist, has made some changes to the hours and days that she is here. Her new schedule is Tuesdays from 2:00pm to 7:00pm, Wednesdays from 12:30pm to 5:45pm, and Fridays from 8:45am to 2:00pm.

As we transition from fall to winter, we are seeing people having challenges in keeping their immune systems healthy and strong. The poor air quality we experienced during those several weeks during the summer has had a profound impact on our respiratory and immune system health as we approach the end of the year.

The absolute best thing you can do to help your immune system stay strong and healthy during the coldest months of the year is to get adjusted. Receiving regular adjustments allows your bodies’ innate healing capacity to function at its best. So, whether you are feeling well, feel like you may be coming down with something, or are actively under the weather, the best thing you can do to help your immune system function optimally is to come in for an adjustment. Remember, that in addition to getting adjusted regularly, there are three foundational supplements that are essential in aiding your body’s ability to function at its best. These are fish oil, probiotic and whole-food vitamin D.  All three together create a powerhouse that supports a healthy gut, healthy brain and decreases global inflammation levels – which equals a healthy immune system response.

Psssst!!! It’s almost here. You know, that thing called the New Year? Have you thought about what, if anything, you’d like to accomplish or change in 2018? Know you want to make some changes, but don’t know where to start? We are here to help answer any questions you may have regarding your health and nutrition. If you have more specific concerns or goals you’d like to address, please inquire about taking a symptom survey and setting up a time with Dr. Ellison to review the results, assess the health of your system, and offer recommendations.

As a reminder, we host weekly wellness workshops that address the areas that people most commonly have questions about, such as posture and body mechanics, exercise, nutrition, stress management and maintaining a positive mental attitude.  They are typically on Wednesday evenings at 6:30pm. Please let us know if you, or a guest, are interested in attending and we can let you know when the next one is being held!

To you and yours, Happy Holidays from Dr. Ellison and the Always Chiropractic Team!
